Day 1 We depart this morning for our drive through scenic Indiana to the Amish country and Nappanee. Here it will seem like we have traveled back in time to an era when life was simpler, lived at a slower pace…the Amish today live much as their ancestors did. The children still walk to one-room school houses and families still travel to town by way of horse and buggy. We will stay at Amish Acres, where an 80 acre restored Amish farmstead, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is the focal point. Our package will include accommodations at the Inn at Amish Acres and an included Threshers Dinner in the old barn restaurant and admission to the Round Barn Theatre and the musical Forever Plaid. Filled with Christmas standards that have all been “Plaid-erized”, the boys are back to do their Christmas Special. At first they aren’t sure why they’ve returned, but a phone call from the heavenly Rosemary Clooney lets them know that they’re needed to put a little harmony into a discordant world. You’ll hear “Mambo in the Winter Wonderland”, It’s Beginning to Look a Lot like Christmas”, and of course, “Jingle Bells”. D
Day 2 We will enjoy an included breakfast before departure. This morning we will tour Menno-Hof, the Mennonite-Amish Visitors Center. Amish builders erected the striking barn structure that houses this interpretative center. The unique story of the Mennonites and Amish is told through the use of multimedia presentations, historical environments, and colorful displays. We will include some shopping at the Essenhaus Village Shops and lunch before setting our sights for home. What a great way to usher in the holiday season, the Amish way! B,L
