Day 1 Our Yellowstone adventure begins as we pass through Wisconsin, westward bound. Tonight’s overnight stay will be near Madison.
Day 2 Breakfast is included this morning as we continue to Minnesota where we will overnight near Fargo. B,D
Day 3 Today we travel through North Dakota and find ourselves this afternoon in the lively little city of Medora. Your accommodations will be at the Rough Rider Hotel located in the heart of Medora. Enjoy the western charm and presidential history, being named after Theodore Roosevelt’s volunteer cavalry unit. Dinner is on your own before we are treated to fun and entertainment at the Medora Musical, dubbed “The Greatest Show in the West!” They say there is no other show like it…the rootin’-tootinest, boot-scootinest show in all the west! B
Day 4 This morning we will depart North Dakota and enter the Treasure State of Montana. This is Lewis and Clark country. We continue into Wyoming and arrive in Cody, “the rodeo Capital of the World.” Tonight, we attend the Cody Nite Rodeo, complete with Bull Riding, Barrel Racing and Saddle Bronco Riding! B,D
Day 5 After our included breakfast, we visit the Buffalo Bill Center of the West for a look at what has been called the “Smithsonian of the West”. The center celebrates the Spirit of the American West and houses an impressive collection of western art, firearms and displays western culture and traditions. Later, we travel into Yellowstone National Park, America’s first national park and enjoy an included dinner before coming to rest in West Yellowstone for our two night stay. B,D
Day 6 Today, we will explore Yellowstone in all its glory on a guided tour. We watch Old Faithful blow off some steam and see the upper and lower falls of Yellowstone’s Grand Canyon, one of the most breathtaking sights inside the park. In addition, there are many other natural geothermal sites, like geysers, mud paint pots and venting which occur regularly throughout the region. B
Day 7 Following breakfast, we depart for the Grand Teton National Park and the National Elk Refuge. The Refuge was established in 1912 to provide winter habitat and preserve the Jackson elk herd. We will stop at the visitor center before arriving in Jackson for the night. Jackson offers western charm at its finest as you enjoy a stroll down wooden sidewalks and watch for shoot-outs in the town square. Enjoy your stay here at your leisure. B, D
Day 8 Today we cross the Continental Divide on our journey through the Rocky Mountains. We pass through a portion of the massive Wind River Indian Reservation, consisting of 2.2 million acres and home to 2,500 Eastern Shoshone and more than 5,000 Northern Arapaho Indians. This afternoon we arrive in Casper for our overnight stay. B
Day 9 After breakfast, it’s on to South Dakota. We pass around the edge of Thunder Basin National Grassland, site of many U.S. Cavalry and Native American skirmishes, before arriving at the awe-inspiring Crazy Horse Memorial. Later today we will arrive in Rapid City and check into our hotel for the next two nights. B,D
Day 10 Our local guide will meet us this morning after breakfast for a full day of sightseeing. Among our stops will be Custer State Park, Borglum Historical Center to learn about the man who carved the incredible Mt. Rushmore, the world’s largest monument statue, and then view America’s most enduring landmark, Mt. Rushmore, dedicated to some of our country’s greatest leaders. What a great day of American sightseeing! B,D
Day 11 We begin our journey home with a stop at Wall Drug, a unique shopping emporium and favorite watering hole since the 1930’s. Later, we stop at the Corn Palace, an immense structure of Moorish architecture and covered entirely with colorful ears of corn. We come to rest this evening in Sioux Falls. B
Day 12 Breakfast is included before we return to Madison, WI and enjoy a farewell dinner this evening. B,D
Day 13 Breakfast will get us started before we travel for home brimming with wonderful memories of our journey to the northwest! B
