Day 1 We’ll depart bright and early for our drive to northern Ohio. Ever wonder how Airstream is made? Today we see how every piece of the Airstream Travel Trailer is crafted and how every one of those rivets is placed in by hand. Wear your closed-toed shoes for this behind the scenes ¾ mile walking tour. The Wilson Football Factory Tour will be a special treat for our football fans! Since 1941 every NFL game ball has been made by Wilson, and since 1955 all of those balls have been made in their Ada, Ohio factory. With a production capacity of 4,000 balls a day and over 700,000 footballs a year, the factory keeps a lot of employees quite busy. After our tours we will enjoy an included dinner tonight at Tony Packo’s – home of the Most Popular Buns in the Midwest. While you enjoy some of Tony’s favorite foods, take note of the autographed hot dog buns enshrined on the walls of the restaurant. The tradition of “bun signing” started by Burt Reynolds continues to this day. We will check into our Toledo area hotel this evening for a two night stay. D
Day 2 Toledo is known as “Glass City” and this morning our first stop will be at Libbey Glass, the No. 1 glassware company in the Americas and one of the largest tableware suppliers in the world. Grab some of their beautiful dinnerware, flatware or glassware before we leave. Our next stop is in Dearborn at the Henry Ford Museum. You’ll have time to wander through the Museum before taking the Ford Rouge Factory self-guided factory tour. From walking through a real life truck plant to viewing the “Living Roof” and two theater shows, during the Factory tour you’ll experience some eye-opening encounters with technology of today while learning about the past. We’ll enjoy an included dinner before returning to our hotel for the night. B,D
Day 3 Today, we travel to Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens, the former American Country Estate of F.A. Seiberling, co-founder of The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. The estate features a historic 65-room Tudor Revival Manor House, Gothic Revival Conservatory, Gate Lodge (birthplace of Alcoholics Anonymous) and approximately 70 acres of artistically landscaped grounds and formal gardens. Experience the Manor House through the eyes of a trained interpreter and learn what life was like when the Seiberling family called this estate “home”. We’ll visit interior spaces including the Great Hall, Music Room, Plunge (indoor swimming pool), and the Master Bedroom. After departing we will stop at Studio Art Glass and get a behind-the-scenes look at the stained glass process on a guided tour through Studio Art Glass. We’ll view the friendly staff creating their own pieces of art, restoration, and repair work. We’ll depart for our overnight stay at the Drury Inn in Dublin, Ohio. B
