Day 1 We’ll depart this morning and travel to St. Louis where we begin our river ramblings. Upon arrival we will visit the famous Gateway Arch and the Museum of Westward Expansion. Here we will experience a destination where the stories are as incredible as the views. A delightful evening awaits as we board the Gateway Paddlewheeler and watch the St. Louis skyline come to life on a scenic two hour dinner cruise. After our cruise we will depart for our hotel for the evening. D
Day 2 After breakfast we will depart for our short drive to nearby Grafton, Illinois. Located at the confluence of the Mississippi and Illinois Rivers, Grafton is a picturesque river town, founded in 1832. Our local guide will share the history and influence of this oldest town in Jersey County and the fact that it proudly calls itself “The Winter Home of the Bald Eagle”. Main Street is lined with restaurants, specialty shops, wineries and other attractions. You will have time to choose your favorite spot for lunch and enjoy some browsing. A visit to this area would not be complete without a river adventure on the Hakuna Matata Boat. We’ll cruise the Illinois River, learn its history and view geographical features along our way. We’ll depart Grafton after our cruise for our drive north to the historic town of Hannibal, Missouri, located on the Mississippi River and home of the forever famous Mark Twain! We’ll check into our local hotel and enjoy an included dinner. B,D
Day 3 Today we will meet our local guide for a historic look at this Mississippi River town. We will visit Mark Twain’s boyhood home and museum, and see the house of his sweetheart, Becky Thatcher. After enjoying the town on your own, we’ll return to the hotel and refresh before this evening’s relaxing riverboat cruise aboard the “Mark Twain”, an authentic Mississippi River paddlewheeler. Dinner is included onboard. B,D
Day 4 After an included breakfast we board our motorcoach to enjoy a leisurely ride home. What a great time we have had…rollin’ on two great rivers! B
