A shoreline dotted with picturesque lighthouses.  A car-less island where historic sites recall Colonial America alive in color during Lilac season.  Sahara-like dunes created by the Ice Age that formed the Great Lakes.  A Lighthouse Cruise featuring 5 spectacular Lake Michigan lighthouses. This northern Michigan tour will highlight so much of what makes Michigan a top North American destination! Don’t miss the bus and enjoy a wonderful time with us exploring Michigan.

Day 1:   We depart bright and early this morning and travel the beautiful western shore of Michigan to arrive near Muskegon for the evening.  We have dinner together this evening. D

Day 2:   Breakfast gets us started as we depart for a very full day of sightseeing.  We travel to the shores of Lake Michigan, to the picturesque community of Whitehall and see the historical gem, White River Light Station.  Built in 1875, the lighthouse contains artifacts of the Great Lakes origin and stories of the family that was responsible for the lighthouse. At Silver Lake we will enjoy a scenic experience as we take a thrilling dune buggy ride across the Sahara-like dunes created by the Ice Age that formed the Great Lakes.  We will check into our Traverse City area hotel for the evening. B

Day 3:   After breakfast we will depart for a scenic drive to Charlevoix to see the Gnome Homes, Mushroom Houses, Fairy Houses, & Smurfsville. Shaped with boulders, these rounded and curved homes with wavy, curvy roofs are known world-wide, and the only place you can see them is in Charlevoix! After our drive to Mackinaw City, we spend the afternoon marveling at five of the most spectacular lighthouses on Lake Michigan aboard the Lighthouse Cruise.  Take in stunning coastline views of Wilderness State Park and beyond while learning lighthouse history and maritime lore via our expert guide. Later, we check into our Mackinaw City hotel for a two-night stay. Enjoy an included dinner and the evening at your leisure. B, D

Day 4:   The breathtaking beauty of Mackinac Island is a short ferry ride away.  The island’s old-

fashioned atmosphere makes our visit quiet without the roar of motorized vehicles.  We will take a carriage tour through luscious lilacs, known for their beauty in early June.  We will include lunch on the island and an afternoon of free time for exploring and shopping. Following a full day of fun, we ferry back to the mainland where you can enjoy the remainder of the evening as you wish. B, L

Day 5:   We depart this morning after breakfast for our drive along the eastern border of Michigan to Presque Isle to view the famous Presque Isle Light Station. The original Keeper’s House now serves as a visitor center, museum, and gift shop. Both the Old and the New Presque Isle Lighthouses sit nearby built in the 1840’s to mark the entrance to Presque Isle Bay and its Harbor. We then continue to Bay City for our overnight stay and dinner enjoyed together. B, D

Day 6:   This morning we will board the Bay City Boat Lines for a Saginaw River Tour.  See the lighthouse and more!  Then we set our sights for home.  Plan to arrive this evening, anxious to tell our family and friends about the wonderful Lilacs and Lighthouses we have seen along our way. B
