Tallahassee, the capital of Florida, is a genteel town with good manners, rolling hills, oak-canopied roads, plantation homes, and genuine Southern hospitality. The New Capitol building rises at the center of Tallahassee’s downtown, next to the more classic Old Capitol. We will enjoy a day of sightseeing on our “Forgotten Places Tour” which will feature Apalachicola and St. George Island. Come along with us on this new tour, featuring a wonderful three-night stay at the brand-new Drury Plaza Hotel.
Day 1: We’re off this morning on our exciting visit to Florida’s Capital City. Tonight, we will arrive in Morrow, GA for our overnight stay at the Drury Hotel.
Day 2: We’ll depart this morning after breakfast and set our sights for Tallahassee. We plan to arrive this afternoon and check-in to the NEW Drury Plaza Hotel for our three-night stay. Enjoy the amenities of the hotel including the Kick-Back Reception which includes food and beverages. B, KB
Day 3: After breakfast we will meet our local guide for our “Welcome to Tallahassee” Tour. We will see the Government Complex including the new Capitol Building. This afternoon we will visit the Goodwood Museum and Gardens, a former Plantation that creates a memorial to all people enslaved on the property from 1832-1865. The Museum features one of the earliest fresco ceilings in Florida. After our day of touring, we will enjoy a delightful dinner this evening. B, D
Day 4: After breakfast we join our guide for our “Forgotten Places Tour”. We will visit Apalachicola and see the St. George Island and their famous Lighthouse. Our guide will tell us fascinating stories about this area and why it is one of the hidden gems of Florida. We will include luncheon today. After returning to the hotel, enjoy your evening at the Drury. B, L, KB
Day 5: We depart this morning and set our sights for Atlanta. Upon arrival this afternoon we will visit the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum. We arrive at the Drury Inn Marietta, check-in, and enjoy the Kick-Back reception. B, KB
Day 6: After breakfast we set our sights for home, anxious to tell our families and friends about our visit to Tallahassee and the forgotten gems of Florida. B
