Welcome to Vacationland!

September 15-20, 2024
Tour Number R1464
6 Days-5 Nights-8 Meals

Ogunquit, Maine, in the language of the Algonquin Indians, literally means “Beautiful Place by the Sea”.  Our autumn visit will feature scenic coastlines, a Lobster Cruise, photo stops, guided tour of Kennebunkport, Nubble Light, an authentic lobster bake with sing-along entertainment and so much more! Don’t miss the bus to this delightful destination!

Day 1:   We depart this morning and set our sights for upstate New York. We will overnight near Syracuse.

Day 2:   After an included breakfast we set our sights for Ogunquit where we check into the

Meadow Mere Resort for our relaxing three-night stay. Your home-away-from-home will include an indoor pool, Jacuzzi, and in-house movie theatre. You will be greeted with a souvenir lobster hat at your welcome reception upon arrival! Walk next door to dinner included at one of Ogunquit’s finest restaurants. B, D

Day 3:   Our breakfast is included this morning before today’s adventures. Meet your local guide for a tour of Kennebunkport and Kennebunk, two ship building villages in the heart of Maine’s south coast. Hear the history and folklore as you drive past the beaches, hear the legend of the Wedding Cake House, and maritime history of sea captains and shipbuilders. You’ll travel through the port and along Ocean Avenue, past the Bush summer home at Walker’s Point and stop at the Franciscan Monastery with its seaside shrines and gardens. This afternoon, visit Perkins Cove for a special Lobstering Cruise. Board a special harbor tour boat to learn how the Maine lobstermen make their living. This one-hour trip combines the scenic beauty of Ogunquit’s shoreline with a first-hand lobstering experience as traps are hauled from the ocean’s floor. Free time will be enjoyed in Perkins Cove with photo opportunities along the walking paths and scenic drawbridge. After refreshing at the hotel, we will see Nubble Light near York Beach.  Don your souvenir hat as a classic Down East lobster bake dinner with sing-along entertainment is in store for you tonight! B, D

Day 4:   After free time this morning to enjoy the resort, walk to Ogunquit, or take a stroll along the Marginal Way, we’ll meet our guide for an afternoon tour of Portland.  You’ll see views of Longfellow’s boyhood home, sea captain houses and the elegant Victoria Mansion overlooking Casco Bay in Portland Harbor.  Your tour will include a stop at Portland Lighthouse.   From the wharf, walk just a short distance to dinner aboard a large floating restaurant.  Return to the resort after dinner.  B, D

Day 5:   Breakfast begins our day as we check out and depart for our return trip home.  Our overnight this evening will be near Batavia, NY.  B

Day 6:  Breakfast is included before we depart for home. Plan to arrive home early evening with great memories of a beautiful time spent in a “beautiful place by the sea”. B
