Join us as we travel to see Pennsylvania’s best kept secret, The Little Grand Canyon, also known as the Crown Jewel of Pennsylvania. Set in the spectacular Pine Creek Gorge, The Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania stretches 50 miles and reaches depths of 1,000 ft. This autumn adventure will also feature a relaxing three-night stay at the Penn Wells Lodge, a Cowboy Cookout, a covered wagon ride to the upper gorge, and a wonderful day of sightseeing in Corning, New York! Don’t miss the bus on this getaway Autumn Adventure!
Day 1: Depart early morning to head north through Ohio and into Pennsylvania. We will check into the Penn Wells Lodge for our three-night stay.
Day 2: This morning we will depart the hotel after our included breakfast for our drive to Corning, New York, famous for it’s Corning Glass…but much more. We will visit the Museum of Glass, dedicated to the art, history, and science of glass. Founded in 1951 by Corning Glass Works, it currently has a collection of more than 50,000 glass objects, some over 3,500 years old. We will include a Hot Glass Demo, a live narrated glassblowing demonstration where we will see master glassmakers take glowing gobs of molten glass on the end of a pipe and skillfully shape them into vases, bowls, or sculptures. A narrator talks through the process, and cameras inside the 2300-degree furnace ensure you don’t miss a single step along the way! While in Corning we will also visit the Rockwell Museum, an art museum which is also a Smithsonian affiliate. The museum features art depicting the American experience. Lunch will be on your own in Corning, along with a view of the Murals created by high school students in the Gaffer District, adding vibrance to the otherwise drab alleyways. We will return to Wellsboro in time to enjoy dinner together at the hotel. B, D
Day 3: After enjoying breakfast at our hotel, we will meet our step-on guide and begin a great day of sightseeing. Visit Highlands Chocolates, explore the town of Wellsboro, and see the sights at the famous Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania. Enjoy the outstanding views of this natural wonder and visit the Gift Shop. This afternoon we will take a covered wagon ride into the PA Grand Canyon’s upper gorge and along Pine Creek. Our Cowboy Cookout this evening will be a fun farewell dinner together. We will enjoy our last evening at Penn Wells. B, D
Day 4: After breakfast at the hotel, we depart for home. You are sure to have wonderful stories to share with family and friends about the Grand Canyon of PA and your time in Corning. B
